A Family-Friendly Oasis on the Strip: Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay (Hotel Review)
Visiting Las Vegas can be a family-friendly trip if you plan accordingly. You can have a relaxing stay with kids even on the glitzy Strip of Sin City. The Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay proved to be a real oasis on our recent stay with toddlers. The family-friendly features of the hotel were definitely helpful for the seemingly unlikely combination of Vegas and young kids.
Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas is part of the Mandalay Bay Resort on the Las Vegas Strip. The top reason that makes this hotel the most family-friendly and relaxing choice on the Strip is that it's a non-gaming hotel. Although Las Vegas is famous for the casinos, the Strip offers countless sights and entertainment options that you can easily have fun without the gambling.
After some sight-seeing on the Strip, it's great to come back to a hotel that was quiet and restful, without the flashy and often noisy slot machines in the lobby. Staying at the Four Seasons Las Vegas gives you the best of both worlds: the calm and peaceful luxury hotel with easy access to all the Mandalay Bay Resort entertainment and dining options.
Another great feature of the hotel is that you can request baby-sitting services from the concierge with only two-hour's notice. We did not test out this option, but I'm sure it can definitely come in handy.
At Four Seasons Las Vegas, you can choose between the Strip View Rooms or the Deluxe Rooms with views of the Mandalay Bay pool complex and the airport. We had the second, and the view was a hit with the our toddlers since pools and airplanes were very exciting to see, especially from thirty-something-levels above ground.
The room offers the standard Four Seasons low-key opulence and comfort. Dark wood furniture, leather desk chair, velvety sofas and cushions... and just the right amount of warm glow from the design lighting fixtures. The multi-media hub and complimentary Wi-Fi come in handy for you to catch up on work (a blog post, for example) at the handsome desk.
The full marble bathroom has a roomy bathtub, a separate shower, a spacious vanity area, and a WC in its own space with a door.
There's a beverage area with tea, coffee, and a lock-away mini bar in the fridge. My only wish is that bottled water should become complimentary, especially in a desert city like Las Vegas.
The king bed comes with the habitual line-up of pillows and cushions to cater to all comfort levels. The deep and dreamy mattress will most likely guarantee a good night's sleep, even with active toddlers by your side.
We requested a crib for our younger toddler, and I was delighted to find the white metal-framed crib with lovely linens and crib padding, especially around the top where many teething toddlers tend to gnaw away their discomfort. There was a basket with a set of organic baby toiletry and a complimentary Four Seasons bear toy to take away. The odorless diaper pail was definitely a thoughtful plus.
Mandalay Bay Beach
Mandalay Bay has one of the most spectacular resort pool complexes in the world with two lagoons, a gigantic wave pool, tons and tons of real sand, countless lounge chairs and cabanas, and a relaxing lazy river loop. This aquatic wonderland in the middle of the Nevada desert is a feat of modern technology and financing, all under the glistening, gilded window panes of the Mandalay Bay towers.
The best area for families with young children is probably the lazy river. You can purchase floating tubes or bring your own, then hop into the river and let the current keep you afloat. Just make sure you watch out for that little waterfall that comes out of nowhere!
Four Seasons Pool
The cherry on the cake of our stay at Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas was the Four Seasons pool. Right outside of the lobby, or on the way to Mandalay Bay Beach, your room card grants you access to this tranquil oasis. As much as Mandalay Beach is fun and lively, the Four Seasons pool is a nice alternative when you need some calm and quiet.
A blue mosaic fountain sets the tone for relaxation. Feeling thirsty? Mint and raspberry spa water awaits you poolside. Towels, sunscreen lotions, and after-sun aloe vera lotion are all at your disposal.
After a late night out in Vegas or after a long stroll down the Strip with kids, the Four Seasons pool is the perfect place to relax and recuperate.
