A Warm Summer Night in Baylands
Summer is a lovely season. It's the time of year to have an early dinner al fresco, and then head outdoors with the family for an evening stroll.
As part of the San Francisco Bay Area's Bay Trail that provides cycling and pedestrian trails all around the bay, Baylands Nature Preserve is one of our favorite places. It's one of the largest undisturbed marshlands around, a perfect place for walking, running, cycling, birdwatching, and there's even a nice spot for fishing.
Come join us for a walk! Bring a scarf for the evening breeze.
A silk scarf is the ultimate Travel Chic accessory. There are numerous ways to wear a silk scarf, from the most elegant style component (think Jackie Onassis) to the most prosaic survival sand mask in the desert (think Lawrence of Arabia). Silk is an amazing fiber, I can go on forever about it. If you're looking for the most enduring type of silk in terms of style and utility, go for silk twill. The most versatile shape? Always the carré (square).
Throw on just any old tank top and denim shorts, twist the scarf into a long strip and simply tie a knot around the neck, and you're ready for an evening walk. Wearing a silk scarf around the neck is a great way to stay warm, because the scarf covers your thyroid, the gland that regulates body temperature.
Fine, I don't need an excuse to wear a silk scarf, it's just fun and nice.
Now it's time to go further towards the Bay for some fishing!
Do come along.
The grass is tall, wavering in the wind like an intricate dance...
And off we go, into the wild.
We walk alongside our tall companions. They are ever so faithful.
As the evening grows, you could also throw a long sleeve T-Shirt over the shoulders.
And cheer on the laboring fisherman by providing moral support.
When the evening breeze gently combs the ground, wear the T-shirt for some extra warmth.
And there we have it, yet another way to style a simple white T-shirt: with the scarf.
If your child needs an extra layer, the scarf can come in handy, too.
Now let's get seated in the stroller. It's time for the World's Greatest Show!
It's beautiful, it happens every night, you can see it from everywhere around the world, and it's always free.
Let's spend a moment together and just bask in those golden beams.
As men, birds, and planes head home, it's time for us to go, too.
Let's leave no trace, except for the easily erasable kind...
Step by step and hand in hand we go.
